Manna Meals Help
Monday, November 20th
Manna Meals is a very special soup kitchen. The clients are the poorest of the poor. We leave here at 6:45 a.m. and help make the sandwiches and then serve soup and sandwiches until 11:00 a.m. Fr. Tom Lumpkin has been running the soup kitchen for many years. Anne Zaragoza and several of our parishioners get there earlier and start making soup and coffee. We do carpool. Please call the parish to sign-up, this is a very gratifying experience.
Volunteers Needed for Spirit of Hope
Friday, November 17th & Saturday, November 18th
Sacred Heart has partnered with St. James Episcopal Church on Grosse Ile to make a lunch or serve and clean up. Spirit of Hope is located on Trumbull and Martin Luther King.
On Friday, November 17th at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, we will roll the plastic ware and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. On Saturday, we will need to leave the Parish Center by 10:30 a.m. and should finish serving and cleaning by 1:30 p.m. Our experience with Spirit of Hope soup kitchen is different, the need is great, and we see more families.
This soup kitchen serves about 250 guests a sit down meal. Many parishioners have asked about working in a soup kitchen on a Saturdays, and this is a perfect opportunity. We will need 13 people. Please call the Parish Center to sign-up. We will car pool.
