I am pleased to announce that Sean Calvin has accepted the position of
Director of Discipleship Formation for the Downriver Family of Parishes 3. Sean brings a wealth of experience in Pastoral and Catechetical ministry over the past 19 years. Many clergy, lay leaders and parishioners in our Family of Parishes are familiar with his pastoral skills. Sean holds a Master’s of Pastoral Studies from Sacred Heart Major Seminary. The recognition of his gifts has led to his appointment as the Coordinator of Ministerial Certification, RCIA and Hospitality for the Archdiocese of Detroit, where he has worked in catechetical and ministerial formation for the past eight years. Sean will continue to serve as the Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Joseph Parish, Trenton, where he worships with his wife of 14 years Jaime Calvin and their 11 year old son, Gabe, who attends St. Joseph Catholic School.
The Director of Discipleship Formation oversees all aspects of disciple formation in the Family, gives direction and vision for catechesis in the parish for children, youth and adults alike. With other Directors, he accompanies individuals and families from the “encounter” stages of evangelization into the “grow” and “witness” phases of discipleship formation. Sean Calvin will begin his new ministry in our Downriver Parish Family 3 on Monday, December 6, 2021.
With Sue Biedlingmaier, our new director of Misson Support and Sean Calvin as our Director of Discipleship Formation, we have selected two of the Directors who will begin the work of collaboration among the parishes along with the family pastors. Other needs for Evangeliztion, Engagement, Family ministry and Christian Service will be addressed in the year to come. Please keep Sean and Sue and our family pastors in your prayers as we embark upon this missionary journey together!
