Sacred Heart Through the Years

This aerial view of the parish property, circa 1945, shows St. Anne's Chapel, the Rectory next door and the original school building. This photo was taken before the new church, convent and school addition were built. From the looks of it, there weren't too many houses on the Island either. 

The photo was taken in 1961 at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the school addition and church hall. The front row, from left to right are Walter Rozycki, Architect, Sr. M. Ladisla, Principal and Fr. Edward Hurley, Pastor.

This photo was taken on November 10, 1989. Sacred Heart Pastor, Fr. Flynn, appears to be blessing the children of the parish. How many of these children are now raising their own children in Grosse Ile and Sacred Heart Church?
